Danish Strawberries and Podded Peas – Summer's sweetest natural snacks
Come June, there are two Danish snacks that it's imperative you know about as a visitor to Copenhagen: the Danish strawberry and the Danish podded pea. All over the city, little stands pop up selling one or both, and with their arrival, the supermarket vegetable sections become noticeably sweeter. Danish strawberries are, a little like ...

TIPS
Grab a Quick Coffee
If you’re into coffee, you’re into Copenhagen. Coffee. Here. Is. King. Danes can down coffee like it’s going out of fashion, and they’re incredibly serious about the good stuff. Starbucks has never made great strides here and is rarely encountered, instead there are local coffee chains and bakeries – some of which make the grade ...

Souvenirs from Copenhagen – Airport Danish pastries from Lagkagehuset
When I travel to England (or to anywhere else in Europe for that matter) to see family and friends, I always leave the task of buying small gifts for the airport. Firstly, because there’s a packed little branch of Illums Bolighus there, where you can buy all the beautiful Danish Christmas decorations from autumn through ...

Nyhavn – Where to eat and play along the canal
Because it's such a tourist hotspot, eating and drinking in Nyhavn is understandably expensive (an understatement against the backdrop of a city that's already pretty hard on the wallet when it comes to eating out). If you want to sit a while in Nyhavn to soak up the atmosphere, a drink rather than food is ...

Oliver's Garage – Ice cream with Arne Jacobsen in Charlottenlund
Trailing up the coast north of Copenhagen are a string of four white, sandy, couldn't-be-anywhere-else beaches, accessed both by train and by bike. From south to north, Charlottenlund is the third of the four, and it's our favourite east-coast-of-Sjælland beach for the twin reasons that it hosts the super Nordic-looking søbad (sea bath) of minty green pontoons ...

OLUFs Frisklavede Italienske Ispinde – Inventive ice lollies in Østerbro
There are two important things to know about Denmark – truths that exist seemingly in spite of one another. First, it's a country on the cool end of the weather spectrum (and if you're reading this in winter, you may think this an understatement!). Second: ice cream is a Big Deal here. Danes love ice ...

Leckerbaer Pastry Shop – A special sweet stop near Copenhagen's lakes
If a dream of a pastry shop dances around your head – the kind in which sugar and spice and everything nice is baked and shaped, whipped and whirled by hand into perfect sweet somethings – then on a quiet street running parallel to Copenhagen’s lakes, the dream is real. Leckerbaer, surely the world's most ...

Today we celebrate two of nature’s habitats - a forest and a pond. These are wild homes that offer shelter and rest for animals on our doortstep, and can be found in the most populated places, like the cities we live in! @freyahartas @rachel_m_williams #slowdownthebook #naturecraft #considerthelilies #natureshabitats #kidsscience #kidlit #mindfulness #stayathome #babyccinokids #babyccinocrafts

Dear friends, How are you? It’s a different world! Some of you may have been house-bound for a while now, and for some of you it’s only just beginning. Working from home, schooling from home, spending less time outside… No playdates, no sports or hobbies, no little trips to parks, pools, museums or even family. And even though we are physically further away from our friends and families than ever before, I feel that the world is bonding and reaching out to one another. On social media, so many artists are sharing work and so many companies are coming up with the most wonderful creative craft projects. On a local level, neighbours are helping each other out: cooking and baking and shopping for elderly people. In all of this time’s uncertainty, this is the stabile truth: we people take care of one another. WE matter, not the individual. Not the I. Here on Babyccino, we will keep doing what we have always done for twelve years: to inspire you and offer support. We will be sharing ideas from our archives as well as new posts, focussing on simplicity, togetherness and positivity. We will of course also still be supporting our community of wonderful small businesses! Stay tuned for our highlights on : Crafts & Creativity Toys & Games Recipes & Making Books & Films Housekeeping & Organisation Exercise & Health If there is anything you would like to hear more about, please let us know. We care, we share. Wishing you and your family and friends well. Stay safe everyone! Love, Our global Babyccino Team

Today’s activity from is based around looking at things in nature that you might normally miss. Use an old egg carton to create a collection of tiny things - fallen leaves, twigs, rocks or flowers that are on the ground. ‘Plant’ each one into a different hole in your egg box. What does each one look or feel like? Sometimes it’s the little things that remind us just how extraordinary life can be. @rachel_m_williams #slowdownthebook #naturecraft #itsthelittlethings #naturecollections #kidsscience #kidlit #babyccinokids #babyccinocrafts

An activity based around the many phases of the sky’s brightest light: the Moon. Each night, the Moon appears to have changed shape. In fact, it’s just going through it’s monthly journey around Earth. As it travels, it goes through eight different phases, called a lunar cycle. Make your own wall chart and learn about each phase. @freyahartas @rachel_m_williams #slowdownthebook #naturecraft #nightsky #phasesofthemoon #kidsscience #kidlit #babyccinokids #babyccino

This gym bag is such a fun and easy project, also for beginners this is a nice sewing project. Esther, Emilie and the kids had so much fun going to the market choosing all the supplies. The fabrics from Little Cube are the cutest!
