The LEMO chair -- the easiest adjustable high chair from Cybex.
In the beginning of 2020 (pre Covid -- gosh, it feels like such a long time ago!), I travelled to Frankfurt to see the trade fair stand of Cybex, where one of my friends was working at the time. It was such fun to see her, but also to discover all of the innovative products ...

Tuesday Tips: integrating older siblings into life with a newborn
In the last seven months since our sweet baby, Georgina Rose, was born, time has flown by! And it is amazing how many of my friends have also had new babies too... and one of the most common questions around day two or three of the new baby in the home is 'how do I ...

Getting to know your baby. Did you know your newborn immediately?
I was recently browsing my Instagram and something interesting struck me. On social media I have seen several mothers say (write), that after the birth of their babies they feel 'they have known their newborns forever'. I personally have never felt that way. I have given birth to five babies over the past thirteen years, and ...

Some of my favourite baby skincare products
Bram was born during the star sign of Pisces and he truly is a little water baby! Since he loves his bath so much, it's quickly become part of the evening ritual of putting him to bed. We usually bathe him in his Tummy Tub and he just sits there, smiling at us. Too cute! Here ...

Eco by Naty nappies, a responsible choice!
A few months ago I wrote a post about the damaging effects of traditional disposable sanitary pads on our environment and on female bodies. I never really thought of this beforehand, but when I started to research I quickly discovered how full of plastic and nasty chemicals sanitary pads really are. I promised myself to only ...

The Nesta's Nest baby bed, handcrafted and all-natural
Our bedroom is a very calm place if you compare it to the rest of the house. It's on the top floor, above the kids bedrooms and the living rooms where all of the craziness takes place. Ascending the stairs to our bedroom means leaving behind the hectic life, and entering the quiet quarters. Bram ...

The Tummy Tub -- a perfect bath for (newborn) babies
We have used a Tummy Tub for all of our babies and I continue to be impressed by how lovely and practical it is! From Bram's second day, we have bathed him in the 'bucket' and he's loved it since the beginning. The Tummy Tub is an invention of Dutch midwives, who in the early ...

New Baby | What essentials do you really need for the first weeks?
There's a lot you can buy for your baby. And there's a lot you really don't need! Admittedly, I have made my share of useless purchases in the past (for example, a nappy trash can which produces giant nappy sausages). Now, expecting our fifth baby, I think I have more of an idea of what ...

Cloth nappies | one mother's personal experience
After my post about environmentally friendly fem-care products, of course next up are nappies. Another rabbit hole! Amazing amounts of non-compostable waste is created by all of our lovely, sweet babies. Looking into eco-friendly disposable nappy brands, or even cloth nappies, is so relevant. One of our readers, Ilja Roomans, a mum of three here ...

Organic baby scarves (or drool catchers/bibs/burp cloths!)
Wilkie turned six months old last week, and suddenly he's doing all sorts of new 'tricks' -- like getting teeth (drooling a lot) and eating three meals a day (constantly making a mess of his clothes). These organic cotton baby scarves from Hauptli Haus Kids have become a wonderful staple in our house. Not only are ...

My First Year, a beautiful baby book with a special meaning
The first year of a baby's life is probably the most intense one. So much happens during these first twelve months of human life: that wrinkly, curled-up newborn you welcomed into your arms for the very first time on the day he or she was born, will turn into a smiling, babbling, eating, crawling (or ...

The new Free-to-Grow baby carrier by Tula
Until recently, if you had asked me what my favourite baby carrier was, I would have had a 3-part answer. I would have mentioned my favourite sling for the newborn days, a baby carrier to follow, and then a separate toddler carrier for when the baby is bigger. In the twelve years I've been a parent, ...

It’s World Mental Health Week this week, which is a wonderful opportunity to talk about our children’s mental health and how best to support our kids through their emotional ups and downs. In the research @courtneyadamo did on adolescence for her Tweens & Teens e-course, @intheloop.teens she learned that it is normal for mental health and self-esteem to plummet at the onset of adolescence and puberty. Adolescence is a huge developmental period where children’s brains are being reconstructed, their emotions are supercharged, their bodies are changing and they are charting a path away from their parents, leaving behind the comforts and familiarity of childhood. If you think about it, it would be strange if our tweens and teens didn’t feel confused, anxious and self-critical at some stage in this developmental period. These emotional ups and downs are completely normal. Despite knowing this, it can still be incredibly difficult to see our children sad, anxious or angry. Sometimes their big emotions can make us uncomfortable or want to retreat. So what exactly should we do when we see our children struggling? Link in bio for some recommendations Courtney’s gathered from the research she’s done… #worldmentalhealth
