‘Botanicum’ by Katie Scott and Kathy Willis

This book, Botanicum curated by Katie Scott and Kathy Willis, is a dream of a book. Filled with the most incredible images of flowers, plants and leaves, it’s a stunning curation of plant life.

I bought this book a while back and I can’t believe I haven’t shared it with you yet. As each season arrives and passes we get so much from this book. Together the girls and I are wowed by the vintage style illustrations and the astonishing facts. It really lights up the whole idea of how amazing nature is!

Written by Katie Scott, who is the director of Science at Kew Gardens in London, each plant is meticulously described and Scott’s passion for the plant life, seeps off the pages to her readers. Helena always falls deep into this book as do I. For Florence, who is 5, it’s a little too old for her, but I do love how the illustrations draw her in and she envisages all the colours so deeply. It’s certainly a coffee table book and a super information book for children, one which we as a family get a lot from.

Botanicum is available in the Kew Gardens online store and from Amazon (US) and (UK).

I believe they also have one called Animalium, which is full of equally exquisite photos. You should check it out!
